Senior Geoscientist @ Tulip Oil

Job description

Tulip Oil is focused on the development and appraisal of oil and gas fields in both The Netherlands and Germany. Tulip is a small, dynamic private equity backed company with one of the largest and most ambitious investment programs in the Dutch Offshore sector.

Tulip discovered the Q10 field in 2015, this has been highlighted as the largest discovery offshore The Netherlands for 15 years. In January 2018 FID was taken on this development and since then Tulip has secured a rig to drill 4 development wells in the field starting late 2018.

The field production and reserves will put Tulip in the top 3 players in the Dutch North Sea. Additionally, Tulip intends on exploring the vicinity of the Q10 field, which is seen as a play opener, with up to 5 exploration wells starting a few months after the development campaign in 2019.

Currently we are looking for a Senior Geoscientist, a full-time role based in The Hague (The Netherlands), where quality local candidates with an experienced pedigree who can join immediately will be given priority.
In this role you will responsible for integrating subsurface data and delivering geoscience input to well planning, drilling operations, field development planning and help shaping the exploration campaign.

Responsibilities:

  • Operational: Provide geoscience input for well planning, data acquisition planning and tendering of services. Office support for drilling and logging operations including geosteering, working with petrophysicist and well site personnel, occasional well site visits.
  • Field Development: Responsible for subsurface data integration at the field level. Building and maintaining full field static models (Petrel) and interface with petrophysicist and reservoir engineering team for fully integrated static-dynamic modeling
  • Exploration: independently perform subsurface studies; regional seismic interpretation, depth conversion, sedimentological studies, log and core data and analogs.

Requirements:
Education and experience:

  • Geoscience MSc degree (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience
  • North Sea experience preferred.

Technical skills:

  • Experience with drilling and logging operations: data acquisition and logging tools, program design and tendering of services, geosteering, Live LWD data interpretation
  • Experience with Geomodeling (Petrel) and geological, geophysical, petrophysical and dynamic data integration
  • Familiar with the regional geology of the Netherlands and onshore Germany

  • Strong communication and organizational skills - able to work well with field personnel, geoscience, petrophysics and reservoir engineering team, management and stakeholders
  • High degree of initiative and independent judgment, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to deliver high quality work under demanding conditions.
  • Your work will directly impact decision-making; you must be an excellent communicator in a multidisciplinary team.
  • An entrepreneurial attitude and a pioneering mindset that fits the Tulip Oil company style
  • Non-conformist thinker with willingness to take risks, challenge standards but share in the profits, if successful.

Languages:

  • Fluently speak English, preferably also Dutch.
