PGK will move its focus to the north of The Netherlands, with a one-day excursion to Groningen and Drenthe. The topic of the day will be the subsurface storage in the framework of the energy transition.
We will visit the gas storage at Zuidwending in the morning, where a small pilot project for hydrogen generation from PV installations is running. The presence of nearby gas infrastructure and of large salt caverns offers different options for storage and integration with other energy systems (more information is here).
In the afternoon, we will travel to Assen where the NAM core store has been so kind to open the doors for the PGK and to host a work shop around the topic of reservoir characterization in the context of storage (CO2, hydrogen).
